A reader asked me…
I’ve been struggling to get traction with my job board, a site specifically for employers and job seekers in the garage door industry. Narrow in scope, yes, but a much needed alternative to indeed. There are about 10,000 companies in the U.S who do garage doors.
All of that said, this go round I want to hire (outsource) someone on an ongoing basis to market the site to job seekers and employers. Can you help me with this? No sense in doubling down with this investment if we can’t generate a profit over the next year or so
My answer;
Your site is too narrow for me to work on, …their just isn’t a big enough market there which is why i think it should only be a one man biz.
If you want to market it here’s what you should do;
- Build a database of garage door companies (potential clients)
- Use resume databases like Indeed to find garage techs and market the site to their emails.
- Turn on some facebook ads and google keywords.
- Create lots of content (blogs) to help gain SEO.
- Create a directory of garage door companies.
A site that focuses on one type of job has a lower ceiling than a border industry niche. In my estimation this site could only being in $25k-40k in a year so anyone who tries it should be prepared to go solo to keep costs as low as possible.
