A reader wrote in to ask they can get more job seekers to come to their site beyond paid advertising. In todays job market its just as hard getting people to apply whether you are an employer or job board.
People are already employed so it can be tough getting their attention.
But there are some things you can do to generate more applies…act like a recruiter.
This will take time and effort. I will explain that in a moment but you should also encourage them upon signing up to your site about posting a resume and signing up for email alerts. Upon signup change your welcome email to remind them to do both of those things. Job seekers need to be prodded constantly. Send them monthly emails with reminders as well.
Act Like a Recruiter/Sourcer
Go out and find potential applicants online via Linkedin and reach out to them like a recruiter would to see if they are interested and get them the link to apply. Tell them you are a ‘Job Ambassador with [insert job board] and that you felt their profile might be a good fit for this role and send them the link to learn more.
Buy a Recruiter Lite package on Linkedin that gets you access to a bunch of InMails. You could also try paying for access to the Indeed.com resume database as well to find candidates in your niche that might be interested.
Basically your job is to act like a sourcer and build your own shortlist for each paid job you get. All this takes time and effort of course but maybe go straight to the candidates yourself.
You may be able to use a virtual assistant to try this technique or if you can afford to hire a freelance recruiter that could potentially work also.
BONUS TIP: post your jobs on the Facebook Job board because you can get candidates to apply there as well and then you can collect those folks information which you can then forward to the employer who posted your job.
