I was on a call last week with a job board client that I am mentoring. We were talking about more ways to attract job seekers.
Before engaging me they had stopped a lot of marketing initiatives such as advertising, newsletters and social media.
But therein lies the issue. As a job board, you can NEVER stop marketing. It must continue every day/week/month.
I have seen countless job board owners fall into this trap. A few years ago I spoke to a diversity job board that had accumulated over 100k job seekers in their database but never once sent them an email.
They wasted their time ever building a job board and had to shut down. Such a shame.
You must always be marketing. And more importantly staying on top of the latest trends and tactics to acquire traffic. Marketing a job board today requires an omni-channel effort. Social, email, push, advertising, Youtube, Podcasts, PR, etc.
Never forget that.
