One of my clients has allowed me to write about the project plan she created for herself that is helping her get her job board off the ground. I thought it was a great template that others could follow to use in the first two years. I have uploaded it to Slideshare if you want a copy.
Her site is InspectorSearch.com a niche board that targets construction inspectors. She put her milestones into two phases and set goals for herself with specific, realistic numbers. Her main goal is to hit 500 profiles/resumes by end of month 6. Thus far she is on target to hit that mark.
There are no traffic goals but she has already gotten to about 1000 monthly visits despite being only a few months old. I told her that at the end of one year her goal should be to get to 10,000 monthly site visits. She can get there through aggressive content marketing, Google Jobs referral traffic and good email marketing.
I applauded her on a recent call for making this document because too few of my clients have actually gone this far to plan ahead. A good project plan helps you to strive for goals and helps you organize your job board launch and weekly/monthly tasks.
So use her template to create your own. Its a small step that can help make your site a big success.
