Every job board should have a Youtube channel. At the very least its AWESOME for SEO since it is the 2nd biggest search engine on the planet. I was just touching up CareerCloud’s channel just now and thought I would write this post.
There are lots of cool options your channel gives you to help drive traffic. First you can add links to everything you do including just about every social media account your job board has. (You can see CareerCloud’s links in the lower right of the cover photo.) Secondly its great branding and another chance to spread your logo to increase brand awareness. Thirdly every time you post a video you can add a link back to your job board. Just enter the URL first before you write the description. Once the video is live the url will be clickable!
So what kinds of content should you start with? Well start by demo’ing your site and how to use it. I use software called Screenflow on my mac to record it all. Its a cool tool that lets me bang out simple tutorials at a fast rate. Once you’ve covered how to use your site from both a candidate and employer perspective start to educate your clients. Give career advice, talk about news in your niche. Help your employer clients by showing them how to write better job descriptions. Content marketing is hot right now. Start cranking it out!
And be sure to use descriptive keywords to describe your videos. For instance if you run a solar job board you should do at least 2-3 videos that start with a title like ‘Solar jobs…” so that google picks up on them. This should help you rank better over time.
Also use your sites name when setting up the channel and be sure to fill in the about area that your channel lets you type into. Its just another chance to add more KEYWORDS.
