Backfill is a great supplemental revenue source for job boards. A few years ago CollegeRecruiter.com switched their entire site to showcase Indeed.com backfill. Their president tells me it makes a great revenue stream for a site with hundreds of thousands of page views.
So I asked my contact at Indeed what you can expect to make with backfill. I asked him if a job board has 100,000 monthly page views how much will they make with an Indeed backfill? His answer: approx $2,000-$3,000 per month. Thats a nice chunk of change.
On smaller sites here’s what I made on my Jobamatic site RocklandCountyJobs.com from December 2011.
$235 from SimplyHired backfill based on 28,000 page views.
Still not sure how I start with getting backfill for my site. Have asked this queation before, I think? Do we email the jobsite and ask them if this can be done? How is it done? What does the site we are getting backfill from, need from us? Do we need to pay?
Just sign up as a SimplyHired or Indeed affiliate and add them to your job board. Some job board software supports integration by allowing you to add your publisher id. If yours doesnt you’ll need some techie to add it for you.
