A reader asks: I was wondering if you had any interesting tips for driving additional traffic to the site.
Well first I would say read all the posts I’ve done on marketing your job board. But in the interest of time here are several ways to dive traffic to your job board.
1. Indeed & SimplyHired. Whatever you think about them being competitors they are hands down the cheapest most effective way to get traffic in a hurry. Sure you have to pay them but you also get free traffic as well.
2. Press Release. Using a service like ereleases.com to announce the launch of your new site will drive traffic. It works.
3. Join blogs and communities related to recruiting and job seekers. Publish content on sites like Job Boarders and RecruitingBlogs.com. They have free press release forums.
4. SEO & Content. Good content = good SEO. Get original job listings, make sure your site is SEO friendly and traffic will slowly start to build.
5. Google & Bing. Buy keywords on search engines. But this can get pricey depending on your market. Start with a small budget.
6. Backlinks. Seek out backlinks to your site from relevant sites about jobs. For instance I like to contact college career centers and ask them to link to my sites. You need back links for SEO juice.
7. Go offline. I attend job fairs where I promote my job board via flyers handed out to job seekers.
Hope that helps!
