Ever hear of a reverse job board? We’re talking about a site where job seekers create profiles for themselves.
Think “Job Wanted“. It may be a good way to create a site with original content rather than aggregating duplicate jobs. Plus there is a business model.
A new site that caters to WordPress professionals has launched.
WPCandy has launched a service called Pros, where WordPress professionals can create profiles for themselves that makes it easier for clients to find them.
Clients can run a search on WPCandy Pros that factors in location, specializations and project budget to find the most suitable candidates for the job.
The service offers a free plan, Basic Pro, and a premium offering, Sweet Pro, that runs customers $20 a month. Sweet Pro customers are put at the top of search results pages that include them, get a larger display on the the homepage and in search results, and can show more information at a glance.
I think this idea has merit and will let you differentiate your site. You could even create a job board that is more behind the scenes for example and just make money on the clicks and occasional job postings. Once you have at least 50 – 100 people it will be seen as a legit resource. Just put it up, drive traffic to it through SEM and let it grow over time. At the end of a year you should have hundreds if not thousands of profiles depending on the niche.
Remember, a community site with jobs and profiles is more valuable than a traditional job board.
