Ever since Twitter, AKA ‘X‘ is under new ownership, its usefulness for job board traffic seems to have waned and a new announcement is essentially killing one of my strategies for using it as a marketing channel.
Up until now I have been using a tool called DLVR.it to automatically post ALL my jobs via RSS feeds to Twitter and automatically hashtagging them. By posting all your jobs to a twitter account you can drive traffic to them and make them searchable on the platform. But lately my twitter traffic seems non existent and on top of that I got this email over the weekend;
The new changes mean you can only auto-post off a job feed less than 2x per day. Hardly worth it in my opinion. So I removed all my twitter accounts off DLVR.it and am giving up on that channel for the time being. I tried Zapier too but had some trouble setting up a Zap.
Marketing automation is a key part of job board promotion and unfortunately that is not very doable on X any longer. Here’s how my @JobsWithRelo account used to look when the automation was in place. It stopped Nov 1st.
With the waning traffic and the cess pool of disinformation on Twitter I don’t think its worthy of your time from a marketing standpoint any longer. Job board owners might be better off just switching to Threads, the Facebook version of Twitter.
At this point only Facebook and LinkedIn are decent enough channels for driving traffic. Focus your efforts on them.
