In my continuing quest to highlight the niche job board market, we are taking a look at Inter/Arch Jobs, The job board was launched in May of 2024. I caught up with owner Richard Eib over email to learn more.
What’s the origin story?
I started working in staffing in 2003 and sold that business before the financial crash in late ‘07/early ‘08 to focus on other interests. Some of those other interests are an interior design firm and a furniture ecommerce business. From those businesses I saw that there was a need for an affordable platform niche job board that other interior design and architecture firms could advertise their jobs to attract top talent.
What niche do you serve?
Inter/Arch Jobs focusses on the built environment, with a specific interest in architectural design and interior design roles and the allied professionals that support that industry, such as Project Managers, CAD/BIM and Engineering roles.
How long did it take to get your first paying client?
I was able to leverage my existing design industry connections and past staffing connections to get our first paying customer within 7 days.
What is your pricing/revenue model?
Inter/Arch Jobs operates a freemium model. Anyone can post on the site for free which offers a basic 30-day posting. You can upgrade from there for additional benefits.
Do you sell other products beyond job postings?
We offer a solution called Source & Screen which is effectively a fixed rate RPO service where we will manage the entire process from writing the job advertisement, to screening applicants and sourcing candidates from our candidate database.
Additionally, there are branding opportunities for clients in our weekly newsletter, banner slots on our website and an affiliate partnership with Top Resume where candidates can have their resume assessed and revised and we receive a commission
His Advice: For any aspiring job board owner, the riches truly are in the niches. Pick an industry, hyper focus on a key number of roles in that niche and build a board around it.
I don’t feel job boards are an overnight money maker, but with a solid strategy such as creating content to build your authority and brand awareness in the niche, or building a community around your job board, with perseverance you’ll find success.
