So this past weekend Google sent me an email congratulating my site (EvilHRjobs.com) for achieving 1,800 clicks in the past 28 days. I was happily surprised, so I went to my analytics to see what the spike looked like.
But I found no such spike in traffic. I checked both my web stats and for the time period Google said I got the clicks traffic was average. So what happened? Watch the video below.
One of my viewers commented that Google had tricked me. @BossaBoZo said;
“Clicking on the job in google for jobs (without clicking through to your site) actually gets counted as a click in google search. It’s kind of annoying.”
So basically Google should have sent that email to themselves!
Don’t congratulate me on Google for Jobs “Views” that never came to my site. At the very least, they need to change those automated emails to differentiate actual web clicks vs job views.
