A company that once had over 100 employees in the job board space has shuttered, I learned recently.
EmploymentGuide was a longtime job newspaper publisher and website that for many years lived off blue collar listings. The site (employmentguide.com) has been taken offline and rumor has it the owner is looking to sell the domain. I reached out but got no response. They were founded in 1995.
EG had a thriving business once but there’s no money in newspaper ads and they couldn’t make the switch to digital work for them. This news is not surprising, but I thought it worthy of mention.
Out with the old in with the new…though I don’t pretend to know exactly why they shut down this is a reminder than any business must evolve and adapt over time.
