Every day I get more and more traffic from social media. And in particular from one source: Facebook groups.
I use them to promote both my article content as well as job postings. There are thousnads of job related groups and local groups where you can get amazing traffic for very little effort. Here’s how I do it.
FOR ARTICLES
Each week I publish 2 new job advice articles for CareerCloud.com. I concentrate on writing very appealing posts that offer very practical advice. These articles tend to have a lot of ‘shelf life’ when it comes to always being relevant. People love ones that start with “10 sites to…” or “10 things recruiters want…”. One of my recent posts about 10 places to post your resume went VIRAL and it got over 2,000 page views in 2 days by sharing it on some big FB groups.
I belong to several dozen career groups on facebook. So each monring i will grab my article link and start posting on the general ones such as;
Jobs n Career Success (1500+ members)
https://www.facebook.com/groups/81165266821/
Career Networking Group (634 members)
https://www.facebook.com/groups/recruitercom/
You can easily find these groups by doing some simple searches with the words job or career.
TIP: When you post your article make sure it has a good image in place so the Facebook feed picks it up and displays it. I believe it needs to be at least 600×300.
FOR JOB POSTINGS
Want some extra traffic to that job bposting that was just posted to your site? Facebook is chock full of local job groups that you can join and post your targeted job to.
For instance if you have job in Boston do a search in groups for ‘boston job‘ or ‘boston employment’ and you’ll see a variety of groups to join. These local groups want local job ads so just be sure its targeted to that location. In most cases you will have to be approved as a member but I’ve found its usually a quick process for most groups I’ve joined. Dont waste your time with any group that has less than 100 members. And check to see how active it is by looking at when the last post was.
Use facebook to your advantage. It should be a daily part of your content marketing strategy. Dont overdo it. I limit myself to 1 post per day per group.
