A reader asks;
What do you think of ATS combined with a job board as a way to differentiate? Do you have any reading on ATS market?
Its an interesting question to ponder. As the job board market matures, job boards are looking for ways to stand out and employers are looking for more features so whats a job board to do?
I think the ATS market is undergoing an evolution right now. Gone are the basic applicant tracking features. Now its about job distribution, CRM capabilities and filtering candidates based on fit. Employers want MORE from their recruiting tools.
Take an ATS like ClearFit out of Toronto Canada. They are much more than an ATS. They combine ATS with job distribution and a personality indicator. Instead of just applying to a job on their system they take the applicant through a series of questions and surveys in order to paint a picture of their skills and compatibility. Then they deliver a full report of that candidate (with their resume) to the employer. Its a pretty cool way to filter out the tire kickers and get to the best candidates. The ones who complete the application process (takes about 10 min) are the quality applicants because they tool the time to get through it. This is especially helpful for those employers who get too many applicants but not enough qualified ones.
The employer the gets a visual representation of “fit” based on candidates answers.
So if you are a job board start thinking about add ons like the ones above to help your clients. When you post a job on Indeed these days they have what I call a mini-ATS built in that tracks applicants and lets you message them, reject them etc.
The more excuses you give clients to come back to their admin panel the better. So yes, I do think a job board can benefit from having an ATS attached to it.
