I got off the call today with a consulting client who started his job board in February 2013. Its in the ‘work at home’ category. He asked me how to get clients. Part of the answer, I told him, is to make himself the face of the company.
People do business with people they know…so by promoting yourself as the founder of your job board you will instantly gain more CREDIBILITY.
You need employers to trust your site in order for them to post jobs. By taking a public role in your business you have a better chance at succeeding, especially as a “new” site. By attaching a face to a name you can rise above your competition.
So how do you do this? Well it starts with pictures. On your About Us section tell your story about why you started your site and put a nice big mugshot of yourself and/or your team.
Humanize your business!
On your twitter and social media accounts use your face in combination with your logo when posting your profile pics. Show off your office in pictures. Do some videos that explain your passion for the industry you work in.
Marketing a business like a job board (or any recruiting tech) is much easier when you show people who is behind it. Sure you can hide yourself and shy away from this tactic but given the choice I’d rather do business with those who stand behind their sites in a public way. Plus it gives you the chance to tell your story!
Just do it.
