I mentioned Chattyjob.com in my post on tuesday. But when I first typed it into the browser address bar I accidentally added an s on the end and typed chattyjobs.com which took me to a parked Godaddy site.
It reminded me that its a good idea to get the plural name of your existing site as well. That way you can just redirect it to the correct domain if the user goofs like I did above.
And if you take it a step further: whenever I start a new site I try to get as many of the domains as possible in order to keep out competition For instance when I started Jobspeek.com a few years ago I eventually bought Jobspeak.com also. Then i had both versions of the name.
Since new domains are cheap its a good practice to snap up as many as you can that target whatever niche you are entering. This will help prevent future competition.
