Here’s a look inside one of my consulting reports for a recent niche job board owner that I met with. We went over these on a one hour skype call and I thought it would make a good content piece for this blog. If you have any questions about any of these just let me know.
###
Summary: Review current job board solution and suggest alternatives as well as marketing and sales strategies to improve revenue.
Revenue Suggestions:
Adsense, Backfill, Postings, Subscriptions, Email Blasts.
1. Add Adsense blocks to all job board pages. Adsense is a great source for “free money”. With your traffic it could bring in possibly $1,000 per month depending how well integrated into the site design. I can recommend how to implement.
2. Backfill. Use Indeed.com to backfill job listings. Possible earnings could be as much as $1000-$2000 for every hundred thousand page views.
3. Postings/Subscriptions. We need to review your pricing structure and competitors so I can recommend the right pricing structure. (TBD)
4. Email Blasts. You should offer employers the chance to blast out a job opening that is urgent.
Design Suggestions:
* Add “Jobs” to main navigation as well as “Post a Job” link.
* Comparison chart with other recruiting jobs sites,
* Show logos of aggregators that you syndicate to.
* Add social share buttons on all postings.
Marketing Initiatives:
1. Include jobs message in all email correspondence: ex. “Don’t forget to check out our job board.”
2. Add rss feed of jobs on homepage along the right side.
3. Create twitter feed for jobs that get posted. Add hashtag #job to each one.
4. Email scraping off other job sites to get leads. Email them once per month. (use email grabber software)
5. Syndication strategy. Syndicate all your postings to Indeed, SimplyHired, JuJu, CareerJet
6. Write blog post highlighting new jobs from the week that get posted.
7. Publish web stats to prove traffic. (gaim employer trust)
8. Get backlinks to help seo. (i can get you 3 at a value of $200 each) if you want more i can suggest a few others
9. Guest post on careerrealism, blogging4jobs…costs $$.
10. Content marketing: write ebook on getting started in the recruiting industry.
