I was on the phone with a new client the other day when I clicked over to his new job board. I hadn’t seen it yet so this was my first time viewing it. To my dismay it had a grand total of 3 jobs.

No job board should launch without a plethora of job listings, particularly anything that is a national site. You HAVE to have jobs in it and this usually means backfill. Take the SimplyHired or Indeed API and backfill your listings from their database. Not only will you give job seekers something to see you’ll earn revenue from the clicks you generate to them.
Dont want backfill you say?
Well what are job seekers supposed to do when they come to your site?
If you cant give them the jobs they’re looking for then they will LEAVE, never to return again.
Your only other option is to try and get a bunch of companies to post before you launch. To do that you’ll have to give them free postings. Or you can do what I have heard some guys do which is to find jobs on other sites and copy them into your own database. Not the greatest solution since its time consuming.
