I have said many times before that job seekers don’t pay for shit. They’re cheap and dont have a lot of extra income.
However I believe mobile offers a new opportunity to change that truth. Particularly the iOS platform from Apple. Apple users are much more likely to buy an app as opposed to Android users. Why? Because its easier for Apple device owners to pay for stuff right from their iTunes account. Plus the fact they are generally more well off than people who buy Android phones.
So that said…I think you can take existing web services, mobilize them and charge.
For example, I used to sell ebooks to job seekers. They were 20 page guides to various local job markets. They contained all the relevant job board links, lists of top employers in the area, networking resources and other useful tips and links to get a job in that area.
This would make a great app that you could sell for $1.99.
So my advice to you is look on the web for successful business that get job seekers to pay and think about how to mobilize that service with an app.
With mobile becoming so important these days, your opportunity is knocking. Find an idea, go to elance or another freelance site, find an iphone developer and get it done.
