Ever wondered how many job applications a typical job should get? I got this question recently and my answer is that it varies greatly depending on the kind of job it is.
My guess is between 20-200.
But the more entry-level a job is the more applies it tends to get. An entry level marketing job will get plenty more applies than a marketing manager tole that requires 5 years of experience.
I’ve heard from people who used to work at Indeed.com that back up this theory. They say the lower level job listings tend to pull more applicants than specialty ones. Just goes to show you even the big job boards have a harder time attracting the right audience. Thats why niche job boards will always be a better alternative for these specialty roles.
Below is a screen shot from some listings on my boards. They show the number of times a job has been “viewed” by a job seeker.
