A reader asks: What are your thoughts about creating a bunch of local (city or county specific) JBs using jobamatic for the backfill and adsense revenue?
A. Local is a very mature market. Each state has literally 5-10 different boards covering it (plus craigslist). You could try county based versions like mine but I havent seen many county sites take off. City based sites may be the way to go. They have less direct competition overall and you may be able to get a decent url. FortBendjobs.com is a good example of a city site. I consulted with the owner a few years back and I believe she was a resume writer by day, job board owner by nite. Its not huge site but probably brings in 10-15 postings a month by my estimates. The site is powered by Jobtarget.
I would not use Jobamatic any longer. After the recent Google Panda changes they are not giving much love to jobamatic based sites. I would try one of the WordPress solutions and backfill it with Indeed listings.
