We may be all online these days but I still use direct mail to get clients. Here’s how.
First I scour my competitor sites to see who’s hiring. A certain percentage of jobs list a mailing address and/or email.
For example, when i am looking for leads to promote my Rhode Island site I go on to Indeed.com and do a search with the word: resume in the keyword field. That returns results where the apply instructions include phrases like ‘send your resume to‘ and either an email address or email is there to grab.
http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=resume&l=Rhode+Island&sort=date&rq=1
As you can see from this page you get back the apply email right in the search results like this;
Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist – new
SBSC, Inc. – North Providence, RI
competencies, etc. Part time or Full time available. Located in North Providence RI. Please sendresumes to nnager@sbscincorporated.com . EOE From Monster – 20 minutes ago – save job – block – email – more… |
So in this case I’ll address a sales letter to N. Nager and find the mailing address by going to sbcincorporated.com. Then I will either send a postcard and a sales letter via Priority Mail. It costs $5 to send but is sure to reach this person since its a “package” and everyone likes getting packages.
My sales letter is very personal and includes my picture…I get a lot of clients this way. I’d estimate the success rate at 25%. Meaning if I send 4 of these I’ll get at least one client out of it.
Dear Employer,
As the founder of FairfieldCountyJobs.com, Connecticut’s most popular job board…I wanted to introduce myself. I have been running this local job resource since 1999.
I started the site to help connect local employers like you with the job seekers of Fairfield County. There’s no reason to spend hundreds of dollars in a newspaper or on a site like Monster to find the talent you need right here. All recruiting is ‘local’ as they say. My goal has always been to make the site a great way to recruit online for a lot LESS.
You can post jobs for $129 each but I want to offer you a much better deal to use our site.
Unlimited Postings for 1 Year – $499
Post as many jobs as you want, as often as you want for 1 full year.
The normal yearly rate is $759 but by using coupon code save260 upon checkout you save $260 off that price. Just go to the ‘Pricing Options’ link and click the BUY button for the Unlimited – Employers link to get started and pay online. You’ll be able to start posting immediately
I guarantee that you’ll love using our local site to recruit.
And if for some reason you aren’t happy with the results I’ll do everything I can to make you happy.
Warm Regards,
Chris Russell
